I always enjoy Shelleyrae’s Australia Day Blog Hop and I’ve made new and lasting contacts and friendships with many bloggers, authors and readers over the last few years by being part of this blog hop week.

I love Australia Day. This year I’ll be with our neighbours and their kids and the plan is that hubs and I are going to learn to play Poker, while we listen to the Triple J Hottest 100 countdown and I’m sure we’ll have a few drinks on the way.

The day my print copies of MORE TIME AT THE BEACH arrived at my office. My story, Fairway To Heaven is inside.

In bookish news, it’s been a huge 12 months for me since last Australia Day. I’ve had my first print book published with MORE TIME FOR THE BEACH (including FAIRWAY TO HEAVEN); and all three of my e-books at different times have been in the top 100 at Amazon Australia, including my debut title HIS BRAND OF BEAUTIFUL, now three years young. I’ve also been part of my first romance panel, as a guest of Koorliny Stories On Stage in April with my two writing buddies, Jennie Jones and Juanita Kees, and great friend, (convenor of Stories On Stage) Monique Mulligan.

I should have my novella, THE GOODBYE RIDE back in circulation soon. I finished edits for THE GOODBYE RIDE on Saturday and I’m looking forward to seeing the new cover any day now. This book was initially self-published but like my other self-published titles, Escape Publishing now has a Contract for THE GOODBYE RIDE.

When that releases later this year, I’ll have four country/rural titles available as e-books, with FAIRWAY TO HEAVEN also available in print.

In other news, SO FAR INTO YOU – my newest release – is nominated for the Australian Romance Reader 2015 awards for Best Contemporary Romance. 1. Congratulations on your year, Lily, and thank you for the giveaway! I’m not a Kindle girl, so I’d love to enter the draw for the paper copy of More Time for the Beach.

  2. Sounds grand Lily!

I’m throwing in with this because I’ve kinda fallen in love with the Margaret River region (through our mutual friend Ms. Penney) & I am a total sucker for a good romance.

I think it’s the whole being a male nurse thing and being in touch with my *fen-a-min soide*

    1. Good on you, Dean! Thanks for visiting. We have a love of Ms Penney & a love of Star Wars in common – but I still haven’t seen the new movie. DVD when it’s out most probably for me 🙂

  3. Good luck learning to play poker. I’ve never tried – I already know I have no mastery over the ‘poker face’! Hope you have a fab Oz Day – and if I’m lucky enough, I’d like the print book please (I already have a few of your ebooks!) 😍

  4. Congratulations on such a big and busy year Lily. When your book came into work I got really excited for all three of you and that your books were finally available in print! Thanks so much for hosting such a great giveaway and I hope this year is just as big and exciting as 2015 was for you.

  5. I’m a proud Australian and Queenslander. I love to read across most genres. I recently read THE DAUGHTERS OF MARS by Tom Keneally and just loved it.

A print book would be great thank you.

  9. Well as you know Lily I love Rural Romance and its associated genres. Id love a print copy of More from the Beach to go in my bookshelf (where all my fav books go) as I have yours already on Kindle. Have a great Australia Day because even though im working I will still enjoy it.

    1. Oh, Len! Happy Australia Day to you and to Carolyn. I hope you have a great day (even working). I’ve loved seeing your FB posts about Tamworth and the music festival. You must feel like you need to go back to work just to have a relax!

  10. I love that we are so spoilt for choice with auatralian authors and that you can read about places you actually know about (print book)

  11. Congratulations on your success, Lily! I’ve been following your adventures for a while so I know you’ve worked hard for it! I would love to go in the draw for the print version of More Time for the Beach 😀

  12. Hi Lily, what a wonderful year you have had. Hope this year brings more fun and adventures (of the print kind).
I keep discovering Aussie authors that I’ve never read before so as I’m an avid op shopper I make sure to buy at least 2 aussie author books each time. Funny I always seem to walk out with more than 2 books.
I would love to be in the draw for a print book please.

  13. Hi Lily, it’s the first time I’m playing the Australia Day blog hopping game, you’re the 3rd blog hop and I’m having so much fun joining in.

Three weeks after Australia Day last year I became an Australian citizen – it was one of the most exciting days of my life! – and now with an Aussie passport we can travel anywhere in the world and we’ve been lapping it up. I never thought in my wildest dreams I’d be travelling overseas with hubby and ticking things off on my bucket list, hubby has never been overseas except for Fiji for our honeymoon and he’s loving it. Our next trip is to Canada and Alaska in Aug. I also love caravanning, exploring Australia, walking, bike riding, kayaking, watching movies, listening to Elvis Presley and any Aussie country music and best of all reading.

I read many different genres except horror and fantasy. I love my Aussie romance authors – some of my favourite are: Cathryn Hein, Rachael Johns, Anna Campbell, Annie West, Nicki Edwards, Helene Young, Fiona Palmer, Victoria Purman, Fleur McDonald, Jenn J. McCleod, Mandy Magro, Fiona McCallum, Karly Lane, Tamara McKinley, Kerry McGinnis, Pamela Cook. Kimberley Freeman, Belinda Alexandra, Liane Moriarty, Di Morrissey, Judy Nunn, Patricia Shaw, Dawn Barker, Kylie Ladd, Kylie Kaden, Kate Belle, Jaye Ford, Candice Fox, DB Tait, Kathryn Fox, Maureen McCarthy, Bryce Courtenay, Damien Leith.

And I also love reading Danielle Steel, Paulina Simons, Jody Piccoult, Harlan Coben, David Baldacci, Jeffrey Archer, Lisa Unger, Sophie Hannah, Joy Fielding, Nicci French, Pat Conroy, P.J.Tracy, Catherine Alliott, Josephine Cox, T.C. Boyle and many many more.
And there are lots I haven’t read yet but have on Kindle or bookshelf that I know I will love. Jennie Jones, Tess Woods, Tricia Stringer, Jennifer Scoullar, Tea Cooper, Kim Kelly, etc.

Oops, sorry Lily, I went a bit nuts with the authors. Lol.

PS. Congrats on all your awesome books, Lily! You are also one of my favourite authors but, of course, you already know that!

    1. Hi Sue *waving madly*
Thanks for dropping by – thanks for all your support on FB and wherever it my be – it’s been great to get to know you this year. What did we ever do without social media I ask you! I’d love to go to Alaska one day but right now, my kids are still in primary school – we have a long way to go before we might be a little more ‘footloose’ to head to an extended type of holiday again. A lot of the rural romance authors I’ve read and know. Did you know Kylie Kaden was my critique partner? We’re good mates. Tess Woods writes in a way that I’m sure you will love – and I know you’re not strange to Jennie Jones and Jenn J McLeod. Kate Belle is another in your list who I think is an amazing author.
We’d better stop now or we will be here for ages!
Good luck in the blog hop – I hope you win a lot of books!
      xx Lily

      1. Hey Lily, *waving madly* back. I’ve enjoyed getting to know you too. Yep, to think of all the amazing books and wonderful people we’d miss out on if there was no social media – too awful to think about.
I have my fingers crossed that I at least win one book with all the blog hopping I’ve been doing but you know what even if I don’t I’ve had the most awesome fun!

Lily, you’re still a baby, you’ve got plenty of time to go world exploring. I started last year at age 53, if you like I’ll swap ages with you although I do only feel like I’m 30, hee hee.

No, I did not know that Kylie was your critique partner or your mate, how cool. For some reason I thought Kylie lived in Sydney.

On this blog hop I’ve discovered a couple of new to me authors and I’m excited to start reading their books. But I’ve challenged myself to read all my Aussie author books I have on my bookshelves this year and that is no mean feat. We really could talk non-stop about lots of brilliant authors and their books, couldn’t we? I have no friends that read so having you and a few special authors to talk to about books on social media is really lovely.

Hope you had a fabulous Australia Day, Lily! Xoxo

      2. My Australia Day started out beautifully, but it did get a bit pear-shaped at the end with some bad news – but don’t let that stop you from enjoying your day and enjoying getting to know Aussie authors! Good on you for your goal 🙂

  14. Hi Lily, thanks for giving us all an opportunity to particpate in the blog hop…its so much fun being able to discover new people.
I am a sucker for printed books… don’t do a lot of e-reading but I started the audio books in the last year..they are brillant 🙂
Favourite genre I think is historical fiction, with fantasy a close second…

  15. I love so many Australian books and authors, it’s too hard to choose just one book or one author!
I love Bryce Courtney, all the Moriarty girls, Ilsa Evans, Kathryn Fox, Kate Morton, Monica mcInerney and many more. I love finding books set in Brisbane too like ‘Losing Kate’ by Kylie Kaden. I love knowing the streets and places characters visit in books.

    1. Oooh, you’ll get my interest for sure if you mention Kylie Kaden! She is an amazing author and she just happens to be someone I share my writing journey with. We are critique partners in the industry, which means we reach each others work before it gets to print. Thanks for visiting!

  16. I just devoured “Time for the Beach”. The perfect book to take on holidays. I would love to win a print copy of “More Time for the Beach” then I’ll have a great excuse for another holiday.

  17. Congratulations on your successful year! I would love either the paperback or the ebook to be honest, they sound really interesting. I have a few Aussie favourites but my unwavering few are John Marsden, Melina Marchetta, and Garth Nix.

  18. There’s nothing I love more than the feeling of a book in my hands, so I would love to win the book print, please 🙂
I’m a total bookworm and addicted to reading. I always have a book on the go, and if I’m out of new books, I just head straight to my bookshelf and will re read whatever takes my fancy. I go through phases of crime/thrillers and romance novels, though I quite enjoy a true story here and there too.
One of my favourite aussie authors is Caroline Overington. Shes got a knack for telling stories and making me relate.

    1. I did Stacey. Our neighbour was a good teacher. We played Texas Hold ’em, (I think it’s called). I love cards, but my favourite games involve trumps. In Australia, it’s a game called 500 that I play the most. Thanks for visiting.

    1. Hi Nicole – I’ve seen you at or around Twitter. Thanks heaps for visiting. I must admit to finding it hard to get through the last few YAs I’ve read. I found the college/uni talk and the nightclubs/parties – just all a bit beyond what I’m interested in. But I did recently read Push Me, Pull Me, by Vanessa Garden (Aussie author in WA) and I enjoyed that. Thanks for visiting 🙂
